“Blown fuse. Charged $220 weekend call out fee (not unreasonable), and then was charged a further $895 to change the master breaker switch. It was a 5 minute job with a total price of over $1200 incl GST. Verbal quote was misleading - on three occasions I was told "eight ninety five". An $895 cost for 5 minutes work seems borderline illegal, so it appeared as though they were charging $8.95 for the work (the cost of the new part) - with the 5 minutes of work to be covered by the call out fee. Would highly recommend any other company for an after hours job.”

“Scam. Immediately tried to sell me a $3000 electrical system instead of fixing the problem. Called the number and was answered with "Electrician". There was some confusion when I asked if it was Gordon Powers. I was at work when the the technician came, and our apartment was unoccupied. The technician who came was from a different company (Sydney City Maintenance, information gleaned by receipt). This company appears to be a shell company. The technician called me on the phone, was directed by me into the apartment, and within 10 seconds gave me a high-pressure sales pitch. When I refused, he refused to leave my apartment until I had paid a call-out fee, instead of leaving an invoice. We got a second opinion and the problem was thoroughly diagnosed and fixed for just over $200. Take your business elsewhere.”

“Threatened to cut our electricity after they had completed the job and severely overcharged for it. Our experience with their electricians was that they would quote for the job which we accepted, began their work and then commented that they needed to change a multitude of other items costing a significant amount more to complete. We would not agree to the further works being completed so they changed the initial quote for the job saying that the additional work was required to have achieved the initial cost, and threatened to cut the electricity if we did not pay the revised quote. They also operate under multiple other subsidiaries to avoid using their Gordon Powers brand.”
