“So we’re about 6months into having moved into a heritage listed house built in the 1920’s. Aesthetically I’m extremely satisfied, however previous owners seem to have left upgrades to things like the roof, the deck and front fencing for future owners or tenants to take upon themselves. The theme of wishing away potential problems also extended to the electrics. On having a switchboard switch flick off I tried to turn it back on only to have it stubbornly return to off, at which point I called The Local Electrician. On first sighting the switchboard I was told in no uncertain terms that the whole switchboard needed replacing. He referred to the switchboard as a Gulag Box, which unnerved me a bit and lead me to imagine obscure forms of electrical torture in a Siberian concentration camp. Loaded language right, well the fact is I’d already received the same advice from somebody my wife had called out to give us a quote on the installation of an EV charger, so kind of anticipated it in the first place. Anyway the end result was that within 2working days I had Josh and Taj turn up on time with a solid agenda: replace the switchboard, install the EV charger, which included running a cabl”
